UltraLink Announces Co-Founder Has Rejoined Company
In Preparation for UltraLink’s Next Growth Phase, iBenefits Co-Founder Returns to Focus on Developing, Implementing Company’s New Product Marketing Strategy.
COSTA MESA, Calif., July 23, 2002 – UltraLink, a provider of outsourced employee benefits administration, today announced that John Gran, co-founder of iBenefits Inc., has returned to the company full time as senior vice president of marketing, directing all product strategy and marketing activities.
Gran, an UltraLink board member and advisor, has over 15 years’ experience in healthcare systems and is regarded throughout the industry as an expert in all aspects of benefit enrollment, administration and claims submission. He founded iBenefits in 1997 and was the key visionary for driving the company’s merger with UltraLink in 2000. Under his direction as iBenefits’ president and COO, the company became the market leader in the online benefits enrollment and administration space, growing to 120 employees in 13 locations. Following the merger, Gran served as executive vice president of product development with responsibility for the design and development of UltraLink’s combined product lines.
“Since the merger, the company has spent significant time and energy in taking the best practices of both companies and operationally organizing into a single, solid entity,” said Gran. “For the past year, during which we’ve successfully maintained and grown our customer base, UltraLink has been focused internally on building an even stronger customer-focused infrastructure. With a new product and services strategy in hand, we’re prepared to aggressively grow our business.”
Gran’s return to UltraLink follows a series of operational changes to prepare the company for growth, most recently being the addition of the company’s new CEO, Vince Sheeran. With over 21 years of experience in the software industry, Sheeran has held various senior leadership roles, with significant accomplishments in global sales and marketing management as well as a broad range of expertise in the human resources, ERP and CRM markets. He most recently was senior vice president of worldwide sales for Epicor Software, a $175 million enterprise software company based in Irvine, Calif. Sheeran joined Epicor in 1995 and had previously directed the marketing department as well as its CRM division, Clientele.
"Since my joining the company in April, we’ve really focused on developing a solid business strategy and plan for taking the company to the next level,” said Sheeran. “The changes that we’ve made organizationally have streamlined our internal processes and put us in a much stronger position to grow the business and achieve our long-term goals. John has a truly entrepreneurial nature, making him a good fit for leading our product direction and strategy, external marketing and communications efforts. His active return to our already strong and expert team clearly demonstrates that we’ve transitioned into our next growth phase as a company.”
